Pray without ceasing
Prayer is our connection with God. There are different types of prayers for different types of circumstances. It's important to understand when and how to use prayer depending on what your need it for.
Relationship: First and foremost, prayer should be out of relationship and communion with God, the Father through Jesus Christ. You're in a relationship so make sure to not always make prayer transactional. God wants you to talk to Him all the time. Tell Him what's on your heart. Seek His wise counsel about everything, and listen to Him. We'll get more into how to listen to Him below.
The correct way to pray: Did you know that there is a correct way and a wrong way to pray? Check this out, Jesus tells us:
John 16:23
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.”
Did you catch that? We don't pray to Jesus. We pray to the heavenly Father, through Jesus. So it's sounds like this:
"Heavenly Father__________ in Jesus name, Amen"
This is the model prayer for when you need something from God.
Faith: Praying in faith may seem obvious. But if you are praying and asking God something as if He hasn't heard you, you will actually get out of faith and into begging and pleading. He doesn't answer begging and pleading, He responds to and is most impressed with FAITH. So when you ask God for something, here's what to do next. Jesus says:
Mark 11:24
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
This is how we pray in faith. I believe it's already done and already mine, so then as I wait, I simply thank God and praise Him, knowing He is a good Father and trusting that He is always faithful to His word, and His word says "whatever things I ask"!! So I consider it done!
